On course – Simple Inputting procedure

If you do choose to use the App on course, watchMynumbers recommends the following process so as not to disrupt your play, or the play of others.

Record your first stroke at the starting hole

To record your first stroke:

  • Tap Enter Stroke Data.
  • At your starting hole, tap on any part of the line on the hole.
  • Tap on Add Stroke in the top right corner of the screen.

Remember, the accuracy of your GPS co-ordinates cannot be always guaranteed, as satellites are constantly moving from point to point. This means marked positions on the course will in some instances be differently positioned.

Tap At My Ball when you arrive at the Tee box or when you are waiting for others to Tee-off. The GPS location of the Tee has now been recorded on your Maps.

Alternatively, you can do it after you Tee-off, but you may forget to tap on At My Ball.

Your preferred club, commonly the Driver on par fours and par fives will be automatically selected.

You can override the selection by tapping Select Club.

Do not use the  Lock button on the Tee for par four and five, even with a range finder as the flag is too far away to see.

The GPS distance to the pin will also be incorrect, as the pin on your course setup has been placed in the centre of the green.

The distance from Tee to the Pin will be corrected once you arrive on the green when you tap At The Pin.

However, you can use your range finder on par threes, and Lock in your range finder distances.

When the Lock button is used, a padlock will be displayed next to the stroke, on the strokes screen.

From off the tee on par threes, watchMynumbers will send you to the club select screen, as the Driver will not be your regular club of choice.

Double tap the club you want to use.

Put your phone away, focus on the game, and hit the ball.

After the stroke, assess the quality of the stroke.

Record your stroke result by tapping on either Excellent, Just ok, Left, Right, Short, Long, Thin or Fat.

If the weather conditions were bad, or it was a difficult stroke, but no real error occurred, select Just Ok. If you could not do better, select Excellent otherwise select Just Ok. If the stroke was poor, tap on either Left, Right, Short, Long, Thin or Fat.

If the stroke was really poor, or you believe that the error means you will require a recovery stroke, enter it as a Critical Error.

From the rough, From fairway bunker and From greenside bunker buttons, are displayed after your tee off stroke.

Press Save to record the stroke.

watchMyNumbers recommends entering your data in a manner that does not slow play or disrupt other players on the course.
