Pickups are going to occur on a regular basis due to local rule differences.
One or two pickups will mean your round is incomplete and cannot be used for statistical purposes. To keep your statistical round alive, watchMynumbers suggests that if you pick up your ball in a bunker, record a further stroke as Just Ok, one putt inside five and one putt inside one.
Alternatively record a penalty and then two putt strokes: one inside five, and one inside one.
The same principle will apply when missing a putt on the green and picking up. If you picked up inside two, assume you would have had two putts from that point: one inside two, and one inside one.
If you picked up your ball halfway down a hole, place a few strokes in Recovery and a few putts outside eight, and then inside one.
The same principle applies in a Match Play event. If you picked up the ball on a hole, anticipate for statistical purposes what would have occurred. Do the same when the match finished on the 15th hole. Enter a random set of shots to show what may have occurred. Alternatively, delete the round.
